Historic Coinage is a coin website based in the heart of historic England - a village in Runnymede, just outside of London. It is run by Clive Knipe who studied archaeology at university and is a collector of hammered silver, leading to many contributions to the EMC, BNJ and other academic published work.
Historic Coinage started as a small site in 2007 selling the coins of just one collector. As of 2012 it stocks hundreds of coins ranging from early Anglo-Saxon sceattas through to Georgian milled silver and receives over 15,000 unique online visitors each year. Whilst Historic Coinage has grown since its humble origins it still retains its original ethos as well as its unique approach to customer service.
The main focus of material on Historic Coinage is Anglo-Saxon and Plantagenet silver but Historic Coinage encompasses all aspects of English coinage and history. My aim is to offer coins of affordable price to all numismatists and history enthusiasts and I have been successfully doing this for years. Historic Coinage has attracted a wide range of people from re-enactors to small-time collectors to some of the most famous modern-day numismatists and the number of repeat customers increases each month.
Historic Coinage is always seeking new stock. Fair prices are paid and the option of consigning coins to Historic Coinage is also possible. On some occasions I am also able to bid on your behalf at various auctions, please do get in contact to discuss this.
I am always on the lookout for coins for my personal collection, contact me with what you have and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
