2009 has been an eventful year
for Historic Coinage especially as the website has grown from strength to strength,
accepting more consignments than ever before including some real rarities such as an
Edward
IV Durham Halfpenny and a Richard
III Groat. Not being a coin dealer in the normal
sense, as I do not seek to make profit, many customers are returning
customers and they all have warm personalities and are not afraid to
strike up conversation via email. For their
kindness and interest, I am most grateful. I shall retain the
philosophy that I shall
treat fellow
collectors as I would like to be treated as a collector myself whilst
maintaining traditional
values and
always willing to help others. My email is always open to one and all; Clive@HistoricCoinage.com
The Collection feature
is undergoing a refurbishment and is due to be up and running fully
early next year.
The Forum has
been a hive of activity as usual with plenty of erudite insights by
international members and their goodwill is much appreciated by all.
Let's hope this trend continues throughout 2010!
The infamous coin bible,
Spink 2010, has
proven to be a big hit amongst collectors. Its changes
in price reflect a
growing
market with strong interest and the presence of investors in the
market. Nonetheless, hammered coins are proving to be a very popular
line of collecting with many new, and young, collectors
entering the arena and eager to learn. Although fresh, high quality
material has been
relatively scarce
to-hand, there are still some fantastic pieces to be obtained as well
as the occasional bargain or two.
Be sure to keep a very
close eye on Historic Coinage as bigger and better things are promised for 2010. In the meantime,
please peruse the site to see if anything takes your fancy. Why not treat yourself to a
Christmas coin or a New Year Spink book? It beats a
pair of socks...
Festive wishes to you and
yours this Christmas.
